TOP 5 HOLIDAY MOVIES THAT DEFINITELY WARMS THE HEART.

AND SO, EVERYONE KNOWS I MEGA LOVE
WATCHING AND DISCOVERING

MOVIES THAT WARMS THE HEART
IN TIMES LIKE THESE WHEN THE
COLD BREEZE IS TOUCHING
EVERYONES SKIN
AND YOU CANNOT WAIT TO
CURL & CUDDLE UP
WITH SOMEONE SPECIAL.

SO THIS IS MY TOP 5
ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIES
TO WATCH AROUND CHRISTMAS
UP TO THE NEW YEARS.

AND OF COURSE,
WHENEVER I WANT TO. HAHA

5. NOTTING HILL

Situated at the heart of london,
Will (Grant), an ordinary travel bookshop

owner from Notting Hill
gets the chance of a lifetime.

A bona fide superstar Anna (Roberts)
walked in his store and eventually
in his life in circumstances
so splendid and at times,
mundane that makes one wonder:

"Can the most famous film star in the world
fall for the man on the street?"

I remember, i saw this around the time
i was 11 with my uncle at Christmas day.
He was laughing so hard due to
Hugh Grant's roommate
and all i remembered was that scene:

Hugh grant's character opened
the door and all the blinding lights
started clicking &
of course, next thing you know,
'Spike' the roommate with
his silly briefs and weird face
smiled for the cameras.

Aside from that, I grew up watching Julia Roberts' films
(mostly with richard gere)
but with Hugh Grant, they have
that irresistible chemistry going that
no one can deny or even cant stop smiling about.

I think that started my inclination
to like Hugh Grant OR British guys
in general.

4. THE HOLIDAY

The next Brit that I extremely
love is JUDE LAW.

I don't know if its the smoldering stares or
his innocent eyes or even the accent
but there is something about Jude Law
that makes me want to watch all his films.

I saw this movie around 2009
around December also and
I really love the juxtaposing characters
deemed to be almost cliché
but is conventionally real and familiar.

In the movie, two characters
from different parts
of the globe with varying neuroses
and complications
opted to swap houses for
the holiday season
in order to move on
and start afresh.

By doing so, each experienced
a HOLIDAY
full of laughter, romance and
candid moments in foreign cities
enabling the audience to
hope for the best
and feel that warmth soothed
for the Christmas Season.

3. SERENDIPITY

Fate, Destiny, Serendipity.
Whatever we may call it,
is something that I BELIEVE
is worth looking in to.
Silly as it may seem,
life usually curves unusual circumstances
we don't utterly expect and
sometimes,
IT TURNS OUT BEAUTIFULLY.

And this movie is one heck of a reason
why I tend
to have faith in that premise.

Two strangers bumping unto
each other during the Christmas rush at
Bloomingdales unfolded magic and
irresistible je ne sais quoi one night
that forever tainted their belief systems
TO THE CORE.

A few years after, the two engaged with
their respective partners rekindle
what once was lost with the help of
fate, a five dollar bill,
the first edition of
love in the time of cholera
and of course,
the black cashmere gloves.

A movie so hopeful and
crazy all at once
it dares us to believe that
there is magic after all.

2. LOVE ACTUALLY

One of the most thought-out,
hilarious, and
enchanting movies of all time,
LOVE ACTUALLY
states a simple, matter-of-fact TRUTH:
LOVE IS ACTUALLY ALL AROUND.

The movie revolves around 10 people
and a thousand more regarding
the faces of love.

Young love,
Platonic love,
Falling in and out of love,
CRAZY LOVE
and of course,
so-near-yet-so-far
LOVE.

I ACTUALLY WONT DELVE
INTO ANY PLOTS
BECAUSE I WANT YOU GUYS
TO WATCH IT
FOR YOURSELVES
AND LET THE ENTICING CAST
& MESH OF CHARACTERS
CHARM THEIR WAY
INTO THOSE HEARTS.

BUT I WOULD SAY THIS:

I LOVED KEIRA KNIGHTLEY'S
AND OF COURSE,
COLIN FIRTH'S FOREVER!

1. BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY

COLIN FIRTH AND HUGH GRANT
IN ONE SITTING, OOH!
DEFINITELY AWESOME!

I ONLY SAW THIS FILM ONCE,
I THINK EARLY THIS YEAR
AND DIDN'T REALLY APPRECIATE
IT AT FIRST.

BUT WHEN I SAW IT AGAIN,
JUST THIS CHRISTMAS DAY,
IT WAS JUST EXACTLY
WHAT ONE NEEDS
DURING THIS HOLIDAY SEASON!

A RELENTLESSLY FUNNY,
ECCENTRIC,
WARM
AND IN DEED LOVABLE
CHARACTER,
SOMEONE EXACTLY LIKE:

BRIDGET JONES

The story talks of a 32 year old woman
seriously tired of her monotonous
life looking for ways to change
her "spinster" life and of course,
a relationship worthwhile.
She started a diary
to keep track of her
New Year's resolution
she had planned after
meeting an angsty guy
who ended up scorning
her at Christmas day.

In the course of that year,
she was able to
discover more of herself,
opened herself up for
a new relationship,
take on a new job,
lose and gain weight at once
and
discover what its like
to really have a man

LIKE A GIRL JUST THE WAY SHE IS.

And certainly, a fight scene
involving two gorgeously looking
men (Hello Colin Firth and
Hugh Grant) over
a girl's love while
"Its raining men"
is playing in the background is
indeed FABULOUS.

EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS
MOVIE IS JUST WONDERFUL
AND IF YOU ARE
LOOKING TO LAUGH HARD
AND BE SWEPT OFF YOUR
FEET AT THE SAME TIME,
THIS IS THE MOVIE!

ENJOY WATCHING AND
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Dear Celebrity,

Hello. I am certain that you have no idea of who I am.
I am Ka, a graduate of Miriam College wherein I took up
BS Psychology and  just this year studied Medicine at
San Beda College-Mendiola for a semester.
It might be weird reading this sort of open letter
but I have been having dreams
lately about how I will help you dress up
and help you achieve the look you totally deserve.

This is not a criticism, nor me wanting to be known.
I don't want to be a celebrity, I just want to be a stylist.
Pardon me if i say this but i am not a fan. I don't
follow news about your life or even care to watch you on TV
but for about 2 weeks now, Ive been dreading that you kept
appearing in my dreams. It started late November when you
suddenly poof into my sleep and the story is,
you are wearing a matching purple dress, belt and shoes.
And in that instance, you looked ridiculous and I asked
you if you wanted to hire me as your stylist.
But its a dream and anything goes right?

But it has been sequential. Its too consecutive to ignore.
I don't know why. So I felt compelled to write this
immediately after my last dream where in I picked out things
for you to wear. I haven't heard any of your songs or anything
but i think i saw one movie. You being the granddaughter
of a woman who fell in love with a man from a different era.
I remembered then, i was back in high school,
you still have a curly hair and wore clothes that seemed
to look too old for your age.
I loved the cameo necklace though.

I am offering my help.
I don't need any credit or even acknowledgement AT ALL.
I might come off boastful or weird but I gotta do this.
I'm not saying I am always perfectly dressed but I totally try.
I help people around me pick clothes, shoes, bags,
accessories, name it.
I do it for free.
And so I am extending my self, absolutely no payments
whatsoever.
I will help you choose a style that will enhance the beauty
you already have. Hell if i was pretty as you,
I will grab every single
possibility to look good and be looked up to!
As a psychology graduate, we were always told that there is
always a meaning behind every dream.
I seriously don't know what it is for me
but I hope you will sincerely consider this:
I want people to stop scrutinizing you and regard you
forever as the second best dressed.
I want them to see you as a star featured
in high fashion spreads,
photographed as the best dressed in galas and
not look like you try too hard.
As of what i see in your style, you like simple &
effortless looks. I wouldn't change that if you hire me.
I would play around with whatever
it is that would make you feel and of course look good.
I know I wont disappoint you dear. Just think about it, okay? :)

MOVIE REVIEW: BEFORE SUNRISE AND BEFORE SUNSET.

THIS WAS A FIRST FOR ME.
I ALWAYS ENJOYED WATCHING
OVERTLY ROMANTICIZED STORIES,
SAPPY LOVE CONNECTIONS AND
SURREAL FATED-ILL-PLOTS.

I ALWAYS FIND IT LOVELY BECAUSE
I AM A FAN
OF ROMANTIC MOVIES
REGARDLESS
IF THEY MADE
SENSE OR NOT.

BUT NEVER IN MY
LIFE LONG FANATICISM
HAD I ENCOUNTERED A STORY
SO MOVING,
SO BLATANT,
AND SO MATTER OF FACT
THAT I FOR ONE ANALYZED
HOW AM I WHEN I FALL IN LOVE.

IT MADE ME QUESTION
THE VERY THOUGHT OF
HAVING THAT
FEELING OF WARMTH,
CONTENT AND
BLISS WITH SOMEONE.

AND IT MADE ME WONDER,

DOES IT REALLY HAVE TO BE
SOMEONE
YOU HAVE KNOWN
FOR A LONG TIME?

OR IS IT POSSIBLE THAT
SPENDING A MINUTE
WITH THAT PERSON
COULD FEEL LIKE A LIFETIME?

Two young strangers met and shared
a day together
in Vienna, Austria.
Nine long years after,
they bump into each other again.
These serendipitous circumstances
led them
to question who they are,
what they believe in,
the life they have now,
and
what really happened in between.

Before Sunrise (1995)

depicts the life of
young love,
poignant and
filled with what usually call
"spark" or "connection"
with a hint of
ambiguity.

Is it really love?
or
just mere infatuation?

After spending a wonderful time together,
the film closes showing the two making a
decision to meet each other again.

Same time, Same place,
After 6 months.

Eyes full of hope and love,
the couple parted ways
and both went to their
destinations.

-------------

Jesse, now a best selling author
wrote a novel about the night they
spent in Vienna.
Celine was there in Shakespeare & Co. where
he made his last stop for his book tour.

But after nine long years,
there were
questions remained unanswered.

The sequel
Before Sunset (2004)
now examines
the time that passed by since
the last night they were
together,
the unanswered
questions,

the lingering ardor,
and
the "what ifs?".

Both older and had gone
through a lot, Jesse and Celine
never lingered
on bitterness and
resentment.

Instead, they were
idyllically marveled
by how chance
led them again together.

Adding Paris as its beautiful

back drop,

nostalgic mementos
resurfaced and
heart wrenchingly uncovered
 a relationship
filled with
cryptic truths
and lets the audience
evaluate themselves

as cynics or
as romantics.

(and i really fell in love with celine's song
"a waltz for a night".)

MOVIE REVIEW: CLOSER (2004)

BETRAYAL, DECEPTION, LIES.
SOUNDS LIKE A PLOT FULL OF ACTION PACKED
MUSCLE MAN JUMPING FROM SKYSCRAPERS
ERGO, A MOVIE STARRING
MATT DAMON OR TOM CRUISE.

But what if all of these
synonymously
depicts love in its
purest and coldest form?

Will the betrayal be worth it?
Will deception lead everyone
to happiness?
Will the lies uncover
something
more pressing than the truth?

Closer, a film by Mike Nichols
examines the birth of love between
two opposing characters,
Alice (Natalie Portman)
and Dan (Jude Law) in a sudden haze
of fate twining them together in London.

It then shifts the audiences' attention to a beautiful,
mysterious yet easy going photographer,
Anna (Julia Roberts) whom
captivated the eye of Dan,
now a novelist publishing
his first book mirroring Alice's
needy yet quirky nature.

Falling madly for Anna while
still living with Alice,
A sensual yet odd side of the meek Dan,
was then revealed
and without him knowing and
intending to do so,
he played cupid.

His peculiar step introduced
Anna to Larry (Clive Owen),
a dermatologist and also
whom she was eventually married.

A forlorn Dan preceded to continue
wooing Anna and eventually,
the two had an affair.
This tangles the lives of the other
two lovers left in the dusk of their relationships.

The question is who then will be happy?

Closer encapsulated the
worthy, needless and unbiased
face of love, lust, and seduction
in an unnerving sequence
that never falters
the audience to
examine which character
resembles them.

A seemingly mute eroticism
in motion
captured in the witty lines
of every character,
enables
one to picture how
complicated it is to
love and be loved in return.

{PS. if you are familiar with the panic at the disco songs:
"Lying Is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking
Her Clothes Off" & "But it's better if you do",
it is taken from the lines
Natalie Portman's character Alice uttered
during a scene with Larry (Clive Owen). }

CHILLY WEATHER is LOVE.
